Former Lakeview Teacher Faces Child Pornography Charges

Vincent Battani, a former Jefferson Middle School math teacher, will stand trial in Macomb Circuit Court on child pornography charges for alleged illegal activity which took place in Warren.

A former math teacher will stand trial in Macomb Circuit Court on charges he possessed child pornography.

Vincent Battani is charged with possession of child sexually abusive material and using a computer to commit a crime. He is free on $25,000 bond prior to his arraignment in Macomb Circuit Court. A date has not been set.

The Warren police detective assigned to the case was not available Monday, but officials did confirm his arrest was from activities which occurred in Warren.

Battani had submitted his resignation to the Lakeview Board of Education in April from his position as a math teacher at Jefferson Middle School.

He was placed on administrative leave on May 14 after the district received information from law enforcement agencies regarding "accusations of misconduct unrelated to Lakeview Public Schools" according to a letter sent to parents.

successfully obtained a temporary restraining order against Battani which stated that he must not have contact with Lakeview students or staff, according to a letter the district sent to parents. 

"The District staff and I continue to work with law enforcement and you, the parents, to ensure that proper security measures are maintained during this investigation," Superintendent Karl Paulson wrote in the letter.
