Exam for Driver Who Struck City Employee Rescheduled

The preliminary exam for a driver charged with striking a city employee as he worked has been rescheduled for Oct. 8 in 40th District Court.

The preliminary exam in 40th District Court for a 56-year-old Warren woman charged with causing serious accident which injured a city worker has been rescheduled to Oct. 8.

The defense attorney for Lisa Annetta Perdue-Barnette, who is charged with one count of operating under the influence of a narcotic causing a serious injury for the Sept. 4 accident, requested the adjournment Tuesday to review and request additional medical files.

40th District Court Judge Joseph Oster denied a request by defense attorney Dawn Hoffman to have Perdue-Barnette's $50,00 bond reduced.

According to St. Clair Shores police officer Tom Price, Perdue-Barnette was driving southbound on Jefferson Wednesday when she tried to change lanes and sideswiped a stopped vehicle at 10 Mile.

She then continued through the intersection and struck city employee Sam Zettner, who had his back to the roadway and was working on the flood lights in the raised flower bed when he was struck. Zettner remains hospitalized in critical condition.
