An alleged drunken driver on Interstate 94 struck a cruiser driven by a St. Clair Shores police officer early Thursday morning.

The sergeant, with more than 20 years experience, was driving on westbound I-94 between 9 and 10 Mile roads about 1:40 a.m. when his cruiser was rear ended by a drunken driver, according to Lt. George Sobah.

He said the sergeant had his overhead lights on as he was looking for damage from a prior accident, and his cruiser was struck by the speeding vehicle.
