Court Briefs: New Court Dates Set for Senior Embezzlement Suspect, Home Invasion Suspects

A pretrial hearing for a woman alleged to have embezzled funds from a senior has been adjourned until August. Court dates have also been set for a two men who allegedly broke into a home and then led police on a high-speed chase.

Senior embezzlement case adjourned

A pretrial hearing in Macomb Circuit Court for a 26-year-old accused of was adjourned Thursday until Aug. 16.

Kellie Todd and co-defendant Fredine Walker are caretakers accused of stealing more than a combined total of $80,000 from William Abke, a wheelchair-bound resident who is suffering from dementia. They are alleged to have purchased thousands of items, including groceries and furniture, by using his credit cards.

Todd is charged with one count of embezzlement of a vulnerable adult. Walker pleaded guilty to two counts of  adult and was .

Court dates have been set for two men who are alleged to have in the 29300 block of Rosebriar and led St. Clair Shores police on a high-speed chase on Interstate 94.

A pretrial exam for Jaime Salinas, who is alleged to have been the driver, will be Aug. 8 in Macomb Circuit Court. He is being held in the Macomb County Jail on a $200,000 bond on felony charges of home invasion, receiving stolen property, fleeing an officer, malicious destruction of police property, resisting and obstructing an officer and a misdemeanor charge of malicious destruction of a building. 

A second suspect, Antonio Torres, is charged with home invasion, second, receiving and concealing stolen property and malicious destruction of property. He is being held in the Macomb County Jail on $100,000 bond. His trial is scheduled for Aug. 2 before Macomb Circuit Court Judge Mary Chrzanowski.
