Court Brief: New Preliminary Exam Date Set for Salon Robbery Suspect

Curtis Felton, one of two men charged in the armed robbery of the Exodus Salon, will have a preliminary exam in 40th District Court on Sept. 21.

Curtis Felton, one of two men charged in the , waived his right Friday to a preliminary exam within 14 days to allow his new attorney to prepare for the proceedings.

"We need more time to prepare for this. It is a serious charge," said Mark Chadwick, who was appointed just a "few days ago" to the case.

visiting Judge Thomas Brookover granted Chadwick's request.

Felton will return to court Sept. 21 for a preliminary exam on armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and felony firearm charges. If convicted, he could face up to life in prison.

Felton, 29, of Belleville, and Larry Roosevelt, 34, of Detroit, are charged in the Aug. 16 —and are suspected to also have robbed salons in Oak Park and Warren.

Felton is being held in the Macomb County Jail on $250,000 bond. Roosevelt is being held on $1 million bond.
