Convicted Sex Offender Arrested on a Charge of Attempted Kidnapping

The following information is gathered from the St. Clair Shores Police Department. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

A 31-year-old convicted sex offender was arraigned Wednesday in 40th District Court in St. Clair Shores for allegedly trying to kidnap a 10-year-old girl on Joy street.

Gaetano John Biondo is charged with one count of kidnapping, child enticement, for allegedly trying to kidnap a girl June 9 as she road her bike on Joy street.

As she road her bike, Biondo allegedly grabbed the girl and dragged her off her bike. She screamed as he struggled with her before finally fleeing.

Police were able to identify a suspect that matched his description, and arrested the St. Clair Shores man. He was convicted in 2005 of using a computer to commit a crime, and was placed on the Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry.

Because of the nature of the crime, and being on the registry, St. Clair Shores Det. Gordon Carrier asked for no bond.

"We feel he is an extreme danger to the community," Carrier stated in court.
