Bond Modification Denied for Driver Who Struck City Worker

A Macomb Circuit Court Judge denied a bond reduction for a 56-year-old Warren who is charged with striking a St. Clair Shores employee who was working on Jefferson.

A Macomb County Circuit Court Judge denied a request to lower the bond of a woman charged with causing a serious accident which injured a city worker

The defense attorney for Lisa Annetta Perdue-Barnette asked Judge James M. Biernat, Jr. to reduce her client's $50,000 bond to a personal bond.

Defense attorney Dawn Hoffman stated that Perdue was in the hospital and released two hours before the Sept. 4 accident on Jefferson. She added that there were "some serious issues" at the hospital, and now she is not receiving any treatment.

"I have serious concerns ... she needs to see her doctor," Hoffman said.

Macomb assistant prosecutor Suzanna Shkreli argued against the reduction by stating that Sam Zettner, who had his back to the roadway and was working on the flood lights in the raised flower bed when he was struck, is still hospitalized and cannot walk.

Biernat denied the motion, and as Perdue was being taken out of the courtroom, asked the judge, "your honor, please don't send me back there again."

A trial date for Perdue, who is charged with one count of operating under the influence of a narcotic causing a serious injury, was also set for Jan. 8 in Macomb Circuit Court.
