Bible Theft, Dollar Tree Break-in Investigated by St. Clair Shores Police

New Testaments stolen
A resident of the 21100 block of Alexander reported Sept. 19 seeing a man looking in windows and trying doors at the home. The man was reported to be in the mid-40s, with short, light brown hair and left driving a dark blue pickup. After the man left, the homeowner determined that two of seven boxes of New Testament Bibles in Spanish were stolen. Each box contained 100-pocket sized Bibles.

Employees of the Dollar Tree on Harper smelled burning metal when they opened the store Sept. 19. The manager discovered a hole in the ceiling of the office. When officers arrived, they found the office to be in disarray, according to a police report. Investigators found an undetermined amount of money to be stolen from the safe. A further investigation determined there have been four similar breaking and entering incidents at Dollar Trees in the Warren area. A Dollar Tree at 15 Mile and Gratiot was also robbed, where the suspects entered through the back door.
