Police and Fire to Take to the Diamond for Charity

Members of the St. Clair Shores police and fire departments will take the field Aug. 3 for charity.

Who has the better softball team? St. Clair Shores police or fire department? 

The question will be answered when members of the St. Clair Shores Police Department takes on members of the St. Clair Shores Fire Department under the lights at 8:30 p.m Aug. 3 at Kyte Monroe for the Guns 'n' Hoses charity softball game. 

The game is organized by the Women's Civic League and will benefit charities including the Great Lakes Burn Camp and Cops for Kids. 

"We are going to try to make this an annual game," said St. Clair Shores Firefighter/paramedic Scott Campbell.

The festivities start at 7 p.m., and will include a food truck, DJ and 50-50 raffle in a "fun, family atmosphere," Campbell added. The winner of the game will also get a trophy. 

Tickets are $5, and can be purchased in advance from the Women's Civic League website. There will also be t-shirts for sale for $10 to support for each team. The shirts can also be purchased in advance

"It will be like the old hockey games, but something in the summer," said Campbell.
