St. Clair Shores Prepares for Community Open House

Realtors prepare to showcase more than 40 homes in for the annual Community Open House in St. Clair Shores, which is being called a "strong" real estate environment.

Real estate professionals are finding in St. Clair Shores that home prices are up, and inventory is low, leading up to Sunday's Community Open House.
Despite the "strong" interest in St. Clair Shores, organizers of the city-wide open house still expect to have over 40 homes available for the annual event.
"In Macomb County, St. Clair Shores is a very good, strong community," said Eric Goosen, of Real Estate One. "It is somewhere that has high demand, good schools, a good area to go out to restaurants and proximity to the lake. It has a very high demand compared to other surrounding areas."
Real estate officials said there has been about a 10 percent increase in the value of homes, while the inventory of available homes in the city is limited and has caused bidding wars on some homes.
Those seeking properties in the city, which can range from a $50,000 starter condo to a $500,000 home on the water, range from employees from Quicken Loans who are working in Detroit's growing technology sector to those returning to home ownership.
"People who were foreclosed on can buy houses now," said Chris Halpin, of Re/Max which is also helping to present the event.
"Those people who lost their houses can now buy a houses again and are now coming back."
Prospective home buyers from within St. Clair Shores, and those outside the city, can visit St. Clair Shores City Hall between noon and 5 p.m. Sunday to receive a list of homes available.
These homes will then be compiled into a master list that will be available at City Hall from noon to 5 p.m. June 2.
Prospective buyers will be able to visit City Hall to speak with real estate agents fromKeller Williams, Re/Max and Real Estate One and receive a list of homes for sale.
If these people find a home, representatives from appraisals and mortgage companies will be available for prospective buyers.
Additionally at City Hall, they can enter to win a free home inspection, worth up to $350, and can receive up to $500 off closing costs for a mortgage through Ross Mortgage.
"It is really showcasing our city ... and having a lot of agents who are knowledgeable about the community available to talk to buyers who are interested in moving to St. Clair shores," said Jamie Begin, team leader, Keller Williams.
