Homecoming festivities at Lake Shore is expected to have a philanthropic element as the Principles of Leadership class is collecting items for Care House of Macomb.
The class is inviting their fellow Lake Shore students, and the community, to collect new teddy bears with tags, juice boxes and individually wrapped snacks, which will be donated to Care House of Macomb.
Donated items will be given to Care House, which advocates against child abuse and supporters of children who have endured abusive situations where children need to be forensically interviewed, according to a letter from the district.
If a child needs to be interviewed, Care House offers a teddy bear, juice boxes and snacks to help the child through the difficult process.
The Leadership Class will also be collecting donations that can be used to purchase these items and to support operating costs at the Care House of Macomb.
Donation boxes will be distributed to buildings throughout the district, and the administration building. The boxes will be collected Oct. 3.
Lake Shore officials plan to present the donations to a representative from Care House during the homecoming game Friday, Oct. 4.
