First State Bank Wins Lighthouse Auction, Donates Sculpture to City

First State Bank continues its commitment to St. Clair Shores by donating the City Hall lighthouse won at auction back to the community.

First State Bank was the highest bidder for the City Hall lighthouse at the Cool City Committee Lighthouse Charity Auction held Saturday at the St. Clair Shores Golf and Country Club.

The sculpture was one of 24 uniquely decorated lighthouses throughout St. Clair Shores in the Cool City Committee Art Project.

As part of the auction, bidders could designate a charity or organization to receive the proceeds of the winning bid. The bank donated its winning bid to the St. Clair Shores Fireworks fund.

The bank also donated the mosaic lighthouse back to the city, according to a release.

First State Bank also participated in the project with a lighthouse on display in front of the Harper branch at 24335 Harper Ave. It features pennies as roof tiles for both the lighthouse and the keeper’s house.

“We really enjoyed participating in the lighthouse project and know our customers and residents appreciated our beautiful lighthouse. We also knew firsthand how much time, talent and treasure it took to decorate a lighthouse as detailed as the one at City Hall” says Kathleen Zenisek, Director of Marketing at First State Bank, said in a release.

This is the latest effort by St. Clair Shores-based First State Bank to support and enhance the community through sponsorship of organizations, businesses and community groups including the Shorewood Kiwanis 3rd Grade Dictionary Sponsor, Parkinson’s Walk, Harper Charity Cruise, Memorial Day Parade, Park It for Family Fun Nights, Shoresopoly Game, JuneFest Petting Zoo, Light Up the Shores, house donation to Lake Shore High School for hand-on building class and title sponsor for the St. Clair Shores Fireworks.
