Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

If you have expired or out-dated prescription medicines around the house, don't simply discard them into the trash or dump them down the drain. Bring them to the Police Department April 30 for Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. The police and Shores Network for Action & Prevention (SNAP) will join to collect drugs in the second Nationwide Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, sponsored by the DEA.

Why drop off these old and out-dated drugs?

  • Doing so prevents pill abuse and theft by ridding homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.
  • One in seven teens nationally report using prescription drugs to get high, and many admit they found the medications in their own homes, the home of a family member or from a friend.
  • The Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is free and anonymous, with no question asked. Remove all medications from their identifying containers, place in a bag, and drop it off at the station.
