Hot Rods and Hot Cakes Fundraiser for Homeless Veterans

The Shorewood Kiwanis Club of Michigan and thewill host Hot Rods & Hot Cakes from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Sunday.

The event features an all-you-can eat pancake breakfast and classic car show, located at the VFW Bruce Post 1146 to benefit homeless war veterans in Michigan. 

The proceeds from this event will benefit the Southeastern Michigan Veteran’s Stand Down, an organization who assists homeless veterans by bringing them together with service providers. Their goal is to find places to live, job training and employment for our most challenged combat heroes.

“Stand Down” is a military term referring to the removal of exhausted combat troops from the battlefield to recover – and this organization’s “stand down” efforts provide a safe haven from the rigors of the streets for our homeless and recovering war veterans.

Classic car owners are encouraged to enter, as there will be 50 trophies awarded this day in many classifications.

A special “Kids’ Choice” Award will be presented to the owner of the vehicle getting the most votes submitted by our younger attendees. Both the registration and sponsorship forms can be downloaded at the Events Page of Shorewood Kiwanis, www.shorewoodkiwanis.org.

Volunteers from Shorewood and VFW Post 1146 will serve the breakfast, which includes fluffy pancakes, sausages, coffee and real orange juice.

Ticket prices are $7 for adults, $4 for children 6-years-old and under. The Classic Car Show will be on display for the duration of the event beginning at 9 a.m.
