Our Community Salutes Military Enlistee Recognition Ceremony

Join Us and Be the FIRST to Say "Thank You"!

The Grosse Pointe War Memorial is proud to host the first annual Our Community Salutes Military Enlistee Recognition Ceremony that will honor more than 200 high school seniors from Wayne, Macomb and Oakland counties that have enlisted in the Armed Services and will begin their military training after their high school graduation in the coming weeks.

The Recognition Ceremony begins at 7:00 p.m. and is open to the public. Top military leaders, representatives from Gov. Snyder’s office and Congresswoman Candice Miller’s office will be honoring these young people from the tri-county area in a beautiful ceremony set against the backdrop of Lake St. Clair.  All are encouraged to attend this free, public event.

A private reception in the Grosse Pointe War Memorial’s Crystal Ballroom for the military enlistees and their parents will precede the public Recognition Ceremony.

During the reception, enlistees and their families will enjoy a Military Family Resource Fair with organizations that support our military families and our veterans.  Enlistees will also learn about how to use their GI Bill benefits both after their military service and while on active duty by a consortium of Michigan universities.

Join us and help us recognize these students' commitment to serve our nation!

If you have a high school senior that has enlisted in one of the Armed Services and would like to attend the Enlistee Reception and Recognition Ceremony, please call the Grosse Pointe War Memorial at 313-881-7511.
