Chili Wars V - "The Rootenest, Tootenest Chili Cook-off this side of the Pecos!"

St. Clair Shores residents Joe Evangelista and Paul Palazzolo proudly present the 5th annual Chili Wars, affectionately known as “The rootenest, tootenest chili cook-off this side of the Pecos!” and benefits St. Clair Shores Cops for Kids. This family fun event is the largest chili cook off on the Eastside with over 40 different chili entries in 2011.


Award categories include the coveted People’s Choice award, Best Red, White, Wild Game and “Other” chilis, Best Restaurant chili, Most Unusual Chili Name, Most Creative Serving Area, Best Dressed Team, and Most Enthusiastic and Entertaining Team. New to Chili Wars this year is the Mayor’s Choice award, which will be chosen by St. Clair Shores Mayor Kip Walby. Music, games and fun are being donated by djdiscjockey.com. Notable judges for this year’s event include SCS Deputy Police Chief Glenn Bowlin and SCS Councilpersons Ron Frederick, Pete Rubino, Candice Rusie, Tony Tiseo and John Caron. Former Councilman Dave Rubello will also be back for his 4th year.


Chili Wars entries are open to individuals, restaurants, clubs and organizations. Restaurants registered at the time of this release include 2011 overall winner Colleen’s Irish Pub, Shores Inn, G-Willie’s, Famous Dave’s, Kirouac's BBQ, Dockside Cafe.

Rules and entry form for chili cooks is available online at www.chiliwars.com. Space is limited and there is no fee to enter.


Doors open at 6pm with setup for entrants from 4:30 to 5:30pm. General admission is $8.00 which includes samples of all chili, soft drinks, coffee and dessert. Donations for St. Clair Shores Cops for kids will also be accepted. All are welcome.
