Memorial Day Parade Quick Tips

Heading to the St. Clair Shores Memorial Day Parade? We've got some helpful tips.

Memorial Day will be a busy day in St. Clair Shores as events across the city are planned to honor veterans and celebrate the community.

  • Starting the day will be a Memorial Day at 9 a.m. Sunday at . The will honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
  • At 11 a.m., look to the skies as aircraft from Selfridge Air National Guard Base will conduct a along Jefferson. 
  • Runners and walkers who will be participating in the 5K Run/Walk can begin registering at 11 a.m. for the event at the No. 553. The race begins at noon for runners and 12:05 p.m. for walkers. Cost to register is $25 per person.
  • Make sure you are at your destination by 11:30 a.m., as the St. Clair Shores police and department of public works will start shutting down side streets and access to the east side of Jefferson.
  • At 1 p.m., it's time. The theme for this year is "Some Gave All" and will be led by Grand Marshal Vince Carr, the 2010-11 AMVET Department of Michigan commander. This year's parade features 82 participants and includes local military groups, scouts, Miss St. Clair Shores and her court along with a number of bands.
