Jefferson Yacht Club Plans Events by Land and Sea

A new season of events and activities are underway for boaters, and non-boaters, at the Jefferson Yacht Club on the Nautical Mile.

The club, established in 1957, has grown over the years to include the current 3,160-square-foot clubhouse which is used for dinners, events and meeting and features a full-service bar and kitchen offers a variety of menu items from Chef Reggie Matthews. 

With the start of a new season, the club is planning a series of events starting with the Kentucky Derby and Cinco de Mayo parties on May 4, and then continues with backyard beautification projects prior to Memorial Day weekend pool opening.

Once summer arrives, there are a number of outdoor activities at the tiki bar, in-ground swimming pool and at 30x60 foot pavilion where a variety of events are held.

Also with the upcoming start of a new season, the club is looking to expand its current membership of both non-boating members, and boating members who have wells in various Nautical Mile marinas.

The Club also starts the boating season with the Annual Blessing of the Fleet at 10 a.m., June 1, in the Jefferson Beach Marina behind the new Tin Fish Restaurant.

Dignitaries scheduled to attend include Sheriff Anthony Wickersham, Representative Sarah Roberts, Mayor Kip Walby and the Macomb County Marine Division are scheduled to attend. The Great Lakes Sea Cadets and members of the Lakeview High School Band will also participate in the event which will be followed by a flag-raising ceremony and party at the Club.
