Why Go: is holding a spaghetti dinner and silent auction fundraiser for Tom Kause, who has a rare and aggressive form of cancer. He is the husband of parishioner Theresa Knight, who has been a member of St. Joan's Folk Group for more than 30 years.

Why Go: The St. Clair Shores police and departments are hosting a Summer Blast and Neighborhood Watch picnic, giving residents a chance to meet public safety personnel and enjoy food, entertainment, giveaways and more. Plus guests will meet the always popular K9 unit. In addition, anyone curious about setting up a Neighborhood Watch will get plenty of information and advice at this fun and informative event, which was rescheduled from July's initial date due to bad storms.

Why Go: Discover a chapter in Michigan's rich history as the Voyageurs bring the Great Lakes fur trade era to life at the 15th Annual Voyageur Encampment at Metro Beach Metropark this weekend. Visitors will get a living history lesson as re-enactors in period clothing set up camp for the weekend surrounded by traditional canoes and a trading post. Visitors will see demonstrations in blacksmithing, rope making, finger weaving, silversmithing, paddle carving and campfire cooking. Plus everyone can observe and take part in colonial games, art and craft projects, storytelling, music, song and dance, first-person history presentations, history talks, muzzle loading and cannons demonstrations, and period fashion shows.
Pricing: Free with park admission, which is normally $5 for a day pass.
Where/When: Downtown Mount Clemens, Macomb Place & N. Walnut; 11 a.m. Aug. 27.
Why Go: Enjoy some family fun this Saturday in the Clem, with the theme being Pirate & Princess Renaissance Day, with a pirate magician and princesses on site.
