Fun for the Family: Fireworks, Fishfly Festival and More
Plenty of fun to be had for youngsters of all ages in the area.
Where/When: Metro Beach 31300 Metropolitan Parkway, Harrison Township; 1 p.m. June 21.
Why Go: It's No Child Left Inside Week and the Preschool Nature Club will meet at Metro Beach Nature Center, where youngsters will be introduced to the wonders of nature, do a craft, hear a story and then walk the trails to explore.

Why Go: Tuesdays are terrific for youngsters when they visit the library for a stay-cation get-away. They'll enjoy stories from around the world, crafts, games, music and more. Today's them is Australia. Good-day, mate!

Why Go: Head on up the highway or snake in via Jefferson and enjoy this fabulous festival along the water, where there is something for everyone. There's the carnival for the kids and kids at heart, going on daily. If you're hungry for competition, sign up for food-eating contests. If you love clowning around, check out Rosco the Clown's act; he'll be peforming daily on the midway. Plus there will be live music each evening, plus dancing. Kids day is Saturday, with a petting zoo and other fun in the works. The beauty pageant, where Miss Bay-Rama 2011 gets crowned, will be held Wednesday evening. And of course, there's the parade, which begins 1 p.m. Sunday. And this is only the short list.

Where/When: The Selinsky-Green Farmhouse Museum, behind the; 2 - 4 p.m. June 22.
Why Go: Because it's tea time, of course! The Selinsky-Green Farmhouse Museum is holding its annual garden tea party on the lush, green grounds surrounding the farmhouse. Enjoy iced tea, lemonade, plus sweet and savory bites. Browse the garden and smell the flowers. Guests can also win door prizes and enjoy music. Don't forget your hat!
Pricing: Tickets sold at the gate. Cost is $3 for adults, and 50 cents for children.

Why Go: Teen boys and girls can discover the fun, adventure and challenge of sailing, power boating anw water sports along the lake through the Venturing program. Get started on a lifelong passion with an open house and informational night at the Bruce Post.

Why Go: Oh, say can you see ... the 2011 St. Clair Shores-First State Bank Fireworks Extravaganza? It happens at dusk this Friday at Veterans Memorial Park. Fun is planned for the whole family. Arrive early and enjoy a picnic on the park lawn and music by Elite Entertainment, capped off by the fireworks extravaganza.
Pricing: Admission to the park is $2 per person (for residents and non-residents). Wristbands can be bought at , or at the two First State Bank locations ( and ). Parking will be available in the city-owned lot across from the park, for $5 per vehicle. Proceeds go toward expenses for the fireworks display.
Where/When: The Crocker House Museum, 15 Union St., Mount Clemens; 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. June 25.
Why Go: While away a summer Saturday morning and afternoon with this fabulous garden walk. You'll see the Crocker House Victorian Garden plus several other stunning gardens at historic homes in the area. You'll also see lace-making demonstrations and have a chance to tour the Crocker House. Plus you can sign up (in advance) for a continental breakfast with Cheryl English, where you'll learn about wildflowers.
Pricing: For the walk, tickets are $10 for members of the Macomb County Historical Society and $15 for non-members. For the lecture and breakfast: $6 for members, $8 for non-members. Call 586-465-2488 if you have questions.
Where/When: Wolcott Mill Farm Center, 65775 Wolcott Road, Ray Township; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. June 25 and 26.
Why Go: Wolcott Mill Farm Center is holding its Country Fair this weekend. Those who go will enjoy wagon rides, farm animals, live entertainment and much more. Demonstration will be held, including shoeing and riding horses, chainsaw carving, wool processing and weaving. Plus, the Sheriff Department's K-9 Unit will strut its canine stuff. Crafts will also be for sale, and food fun is in the works, including a pie-eating contests. Kids will have a shot at their own fun, including old-fashioned games and a petting zoo. That's only the tip of the iceberg.
Pricing: $5 per person. Children 2 and under get in free. Some activities will have additional charges, and food will be for sale if all the country fair fun works up an appetite.
