Did You Feel the Earthquake? St. Clair Shores Residents Chime in on Facebook

An earthquake in Virginia could be felt all the way in Michigan, including Dearborn, Detroit, Taylor and Yale.

An earthquake Tuesday afternoon left some St. Clair Shores residents feeling all shook up.

People as far away as Toronto, Ohio and Michigan could feel the 5.9-magnitude earthquake, which was centered 27 miles east of Charlottesville, VA. .

The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake struck at a depth of 3.7 miles, accounting for Americans hundreds of miles away being able to feel its tremors. Several people commented on Facebook that they could feel the tremors in Michigan.

  • Sara-rose Kite Melby: "I did, and I think my dog may have as well as she cried and crawled towards house. My dog is a bit over dramatic but I appreciated the humor!"
