Construction Starts on Wally's in St. Clair Shores

Construction started Tuesday on the new home of Wally's Frozen Custard on Harper, south of Nine Mile Road, in St. Clair Shores.

Construction crews began excavating and preparing a vacant parcel at Harper and Elizabeth Tuesday for the new Wally's Frozen Custard.

Owner Matt Ahearn expects construction of the new frozen custard shop to take about three months.

Once complete, the current location in Harper Woods will close and one week later the new building will open.

Ahearn said the new building will offer a greater number of parking spots than the current location in Harper Woods.

Additionally, the 2,600-square-foot brick building will have a drive-thru window for frozen treats and items from an expanded menu including coffee, tea, hot chocolate, bagels and other items they featured at The Galley Cafe, which they formerly operated at the .
