Take a Look Inside the New Tin Fish Restaurant

The newest restaurant on the Nautical Mile opened May 1 in the former Beach Grill restaurant.

The newest waterfront restaurant in St. Clair Shores has opened in a familiar location on the Nautical Mile.

The Tin Fish opened Wednesday in the location of the Beach Grill in Jefferson Beach Marina.

While the exterior of the restaurant has remained nearly the same, areas of the interior have been remodeled including the main dining room which features fish sculptures and photos along the wall.

The large mural of Jefferson Beach Marina on the dining room wall has also been replaced with a wall of mirrors.

Also, with the return of warm weather, the waterfront outdoor seating has reopened.

Kinda disappointed in the menu and service. I ordered the quesadilla appetizer and at 6:30 they were already sold out? So I ordered the caprese pizzia and it was really not good. My friend ordered the coconut skewers and they were overcooked and the dipping sauce was like warm jelly. A couple near us had to find a waitress and waited over 30 mins before being approached. They block off the parking lot so you have to valet for $3. Where as before you could park if there was a spot. Marti's start at $10 and are very minimal. No cute garnish or fruit. The only thing they have in their favor is the beautiful location.

"The Blue Chaldeani" moves to the Nautical Mile. Great. I can't wait for the long lines, middling food, outrageous drink prices, surly bouncers, the traveling poseurs rolling up in their Range Rovers with shiny chrome rims, and the SCS cops who race down Jefferson at 1:55 to break up yet another bar fight that started because someone threw an empty bottle of Hypnotiq at someone's Benz. Fun times.

Went to lunch at the Tin Fish on Thursday and totally enjoyed it. My experience was very good ... I will be returning ... loved sitting out on the deck and the food was delicious.

They won't last long if that continues!

Did they ever pay the $406,759 owed to Partridge Creek for rent? Seems they have a pattern for their operations...

I went onceat Partridge Creek. They charged me for "extra" salad dressing. If they had put enough on I wouldn't need extra. The only time I went. Dissatisfied. Won't go back.

Have a lot of work to do to live up to the reputation of the Beach Grill. Won't be spending my money there anytime soon.

Went into the new TIN FISH last nite for drinks and dinner. Beach Grill all over. Sat at the bar There was NO ac or air movement. Ordered a JWB with a twist. They had to find the Johnney Walker and i never got the twist. I was asked if i wanted to see a menu...Im still waiting for it. I see NO reason to ever go back. Walked out.

Went with a group for Mother's Day dinner and it was terrible. They took our reservation for a group of 15 but when we arrived the buffet was completely picked over and had very little food left, so why did they take our reservation? They scrounged up the leftovers and served our group bowls of the old food...it was pathetic and gross. Our waiter was nice and tried his best, but it's clear the people running the place are clueless. Very very disappointed!

Called to ask about menu items. Waitress couldn't answer any of our questions plus kept shouting to people there while I tried to talk. Beach Grill was a great place. When I heard they removed the Jefferson beach mural that was all she wrote. I won't be eating there.

Went to lunch there yesterday, watched the manager and cook HARASS 2 male customers, for sending their food back and them refused to give them a refund. Our food was just o.k. nothing to rave about and the service was slow.

Wanted to have a nice lunch outside today, so my husband, daughter and I decided to give the Tin Fish in St. Clair Shores a try. We were very disappointed. Umbrellas are not available on the outdoor deck, therefore we ate inside. The deck there receives full sun mid-day and this is really a necessity for most customers. We ordered the calamari appetizer and it was served very quickly, which was great. The amogio sauce was pure garlic, which was awful. My husband ordered the fish tacos, I had the crab cake sandwich, and my daughter had the children's fish sticks and fruit. My daughter had the best meal of the three of us! The fish sticks actually looked like the chef made them. My husband's fish tacos were tiny with scraps of fish, not even small filets. By scraps, I literally mean shreds of what looked like leftover fish on small tortillas. His dish was served with rice that had some corn in it. My crab cake was obviously not made by their "chef" and was fishy. It looked and tasted frozen and reheated. We waited over 30 minutes for this very mediocre, overpriced lunch. Mind you, the restaurant was not at all busy. We frequent the restaurants on the Nautical Mile regularly, but will not be returning to the Tin Fish.

Took my Godmother to lunch there. VERY DISAPPOINTED. Food was mediocre. They won't make it unless they do a complete 360. Beach Grill lacked a lot but this is outrageous. A friend told me of their experience with a group of six, $300+ bill, with terrible service and terrible food. They need major overhaul and new management and directors.

I broke down after saying I wouldn't go back, my grand-daughter wanted to go their after HS graduation...so we did, I have to admit that we did enjoy the food, the calimari w/ garlic amigio sauce was good, as I love garlic, but I can see were others might not...suggestion tone down the garlic and it will be a hit...Turkey BTL w/avocado was terrific, and so were the deserts,& fish slidders too.... So I will give you another chance as your location and ambience is great and pricing was also in range with food and service was very good. Hope you learn from your small but important faux paus.

Went last Sunday. Waited 5 minutes for the hostess, who never made eye contact. Server appeared and took drink orders, then disappeared. Walked out after 20 minutes. Won't be back.

But what has happened to the wonderful roller coaster painting that used to dominate the dining room at Beach Grill? It would be a travesty if that has been destroyed.

Food experience awful. I miss the Beach Grill.

St. Clair Shores location offers horrible service! We never got a chance to sample the food, because we walked out after waiting more than 20 minutes for our pops! The five female wait staff at the front of the restaurant were all visibly intoxicated. We were seated by one of them who wore sunglasses inside of the building, keep in mind it was 6:30 p.m., so no need for sunglasses. We were approached by our server who was also intoxicated and wearing sunglasses. After waiting 20 minute for our Cokes we got up and left. I talked to my boss this morning who had gone to the same location on Saturday, and found out she had an horrible experience as well!! She stated she and a friend waited 25 minutes to get their drinks, her wine glass had lipstick on it, and when they received their water there was a large bug in the glass. She was charged $10 per glass of wine, hmmm wonder if they charged extra for the lipstick??!! Ridiculous service!

As many negative comments that are here, you would think that the management would get a clue but I guess they've decided that they just want to cater to the bar crowd after 9pm. Food service is low on their list.

I posted my comment way back on May 4th when the restaurant had not yet opened or had been opened just a short time. It turns out I was partly right. The powers that be at the Tin Fish are more interested in creating a "bar" environment and care less about the food. The worst thing about the Tin Fish is the noise. Last Sunday night we could hear the garage band they had playing all the way to the Ford estate. Nothing like off-tempo version of Bad Company's "Rock and Roll Fantasy" to ruin your evening.
