Mike LeFevre Returns to the Nautical Mile

Mike LeFevre's newest restaurant, Mike's on the Water, is scheduled to open next week.

Get ready to welcome the newest member of the family as Restaurant, Bar and Grill is set to open in the coming week.

Located in , Mike's on the Water is your place for food, fun and friends. Sole proprietor Mike LeFevre has brought a 70s-style clapboard burger bar to the waterfront, with a simple menu, full bar, and cozy atmosphere.

"It'll take time to figure out what we'll be known for, but I think that fun and casual dining will be at the forefront of monikers," LeFevre said.

The atmosphere is like LeFevre-light but electric, cozy and not pretentious. With dark, stained floors, an interior bar that seats 22 and a combination of booths and high tops, the inside is funky, casual and airy.

The covered exterior bar seats 24, has tables along the huge dock, and offers a great view of the water. With seating for 150, diners will also notice the "ring buoy" theme throughout.

The menu is demure and simple but colossal in taste. The menu will feature 18 items all under $14, and every day there will be a chalkboard toting daily specials of everything from a fresh catch to Oysters Rockefeller to mom's cooking.

"Baskets of burgers, buckets of beers... that's what we're doing here at Mike's," said LeFevre. "We're a chill spot."

Menu items include burgers, mini-fish burgers (fried filets on grilled mini buns with sweet pickles and tartar sauce), fried bologna sandwiches, and the featured fish, shrimp or Michigan fish served with fries, coleslaw and corn on the cob.

Mike's on the Water's libation selection will be nothing but stellar. There will have a full bar with all the usual accouterments priced on the inexpensive side, including $2 draft beers and $7 Jagerbombs.

The wine selection will showcase wines of the water, all which are named after water related topics.

Come entertainment hours, Mike's on the Water will have a one or two-man band that play Jimmy Buffett-style tunes.

There is ample parking for those traveling by car, and many boat slips will be available both individually and for rafting off other boats. Unique to Mike's on the Water will be floating docks especially for personal water craft.

Mike's on the Water is located at 24530 Jefferson in the Michigan Harbor and open seasonally from now until November. Give them a ring at (586) 872-2630 or visit the website at www.mikesonthewater.com.
