Emagine Theatres Pulls Out of 12 Mile Location

Emagine Theatres terminated an option on property at the southeast corner of 12 Mile and Little Mack for a 12-screen theater complex.

Emagine Theatres is no longer looking to build a in St. Clair Shores, the company's founder and chairman confirmed Monday.

Paul A. Glantz, founder and chairman of Emagine Entertainment, Inc., told  that his company was looking to build a 12-screen complex at the southeast corner of 12 Mile and Little Mack.

But factors including the size of the parcel, parking and an existing oil change business, led the company to terminate the option on the property, he said.

"That particular parcel did not end up working for us," Glantz said. "We remain highly focused on that market (southeast Macomb County)."

This is the second location Emagine has considered in the area and opted to not build. In May, officials in Grosse Pointe announced that Emagine Entertainment had withdrawn  shopping district.

Bummer. Now I have to continue driving to Royal Oak to go to the show.

Big bummer :( this would've been an excellent addition to SCS!!!

They ought to build where the old KMart building is on 13 Mile between Harper and Little Mack.
Holly McCarthy July 16, 2012 at 05:40 PM
i like that idea margie!

agree.............
Kim Pilipovich-Hamilton July 16, 2012 at 06:43 PM
I agree with Margie, The old Kmart property at 13 and little mack is perfect location, empty ready to build on, lots of parking, right off the freeway....PERFECT

What about the old Manzella building on Harper? Lots of land there...
M. Thompson July 16, 2012 at 07:12 PM
The old Kmart would be nice, but unfortunately it isn't in St Clair Shores, it is actually in Roseville.
M. Thompson July 16, 2012 at 07:16 PM
That parcel is in Roseville, however, nice place for the theatre, just wouldn't bring any revenue to the Shores.
Margie Chandler July 17, 2012 at 12:57 AM
I did not realize that. Where exactly do Roseville and St. Clair Shores divide? I attend St. Margaret Church in SCS and it is very close to KMart. I would much rather the revenue come to SCS. However if they are seeking a location on the east side that would be an ideal spot. That building has been an eye sore for years.

Funny you should ask Margie, West of St. Margaret Street on 13 mile is the Roseville/SCS border. At 12 mile, it juts out further west, but only south side of 12 until you get to Elmwood (I only know because I pass it every day on the way home...:) )

That is SO disappointing :(

12 Mile from 94 to Elmwood on the SOUTH side is SCS. But, 12 Mile from 94 to Elmwood on the NORTH side is Roseville, then 12 Mile from 94 west to Hayes both south AND north sides are Roseville.

The site at 13 and Little Mack in Roseville (the old Kmart) IS being considered for this project. Discussions have already been underway for several weeks.

I think downtown Mt Clemens is a perfect place for a high class theater. The Emerald theater is no longer in business. It's a beautiful site.

I heard they were interested in the old JC Cornillie property on Little Mack in Roseville just s of 13mile.
