Ellen DeGeneres, Freekibble.com, Pets Supplies Plus Provide Food to Pets in Need

Eight local charities shared in 40,000 pounds of pet food Thursday through Holiday Kibble Drop, a collaboration of Ellen DeGeneres' Halo pet food, Freekibble.com and Pets Supplies Plus.

A semi full of cat and dog food stopped at Pets Supplies Plus in St. Clair Shores Thursday as part of the national Holiday Kibble Drop.

The 14-stop tour brings 500,000 meals to shelter and rescues across the country and was organized by Ellen Degeneres, who is part owner of Halo pet products, and Mimi Ausland, a 16-year-old who founded www.freekibble.com.

Organizers delivered 40,000 pounds of Halo dog and cat food to Pet Supplies Plus, where eight local shelters and rescues received the food.

Local shelters included:

  • Michigan Humane Society
  • Michigan Animal Adoption Network
  • Animal Rescue Fund
  • Homeward Bound Rescue League
  • Last Chance Rescue
  • Hopeful Heart Rescue
  • Guardian for Animals

You forgot the part about the Free Press falsely reporting that Ellen Degeneres was going to make an appearance at the store, resulting in a huge business day for Pet Supplies Plus and very disappointed customers!
