Countdown to the Memorial Day Parade: A Float That Floats

The St. Clair Shores Memorial Day Parade is approaching, and leading up to the big event, Patch will be a profiling a unique aspect of the parade.

One of the entries in this year's is an actual float that floats.

will be participating in the parade this year with Sam’s Sorrento S.S. Pizza Boat. The floating pizza parlor is usually found on Lake St. Clair during the summer, but will be partipating in the parade down Harper on Sunday, May 27.

Accompanying the float will be members of the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 154.

 “It’s a perfect fit for us,” said Al Marino, owner of Sam’s Sorrento Pizza, in a realease. “We are very committed to the military and this parade has always been a great tribute to all veterans.”

Sorrento's supports veterans through the sales of pizzas, and will again be donating a pizza this year to the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 154.

The 60th Annual Memorial Day Parade "Freedom's Not Free" will step off at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 27, on Harper,  with over 100 entries including military personnel, military vehicles, marching bands, civic and school groups, dignitaries and a special visit from the U S Navy Marching Band.
