St. Clair Shores City Council approved the site plan for two new businesses to be built on the northwest corner of 11 Mile and Harper.

The northwest corner of 11 Mile and Harper will be the home to two new business under a site plan approved Monday by City Council.

Developers are planning to build a new Subway restaurant on the corner, and renovate an existing building on the just north of the parcel for a Biggby coffee shop.

The Subway building will be 1,900-square-feet and will feature a brick and stone exterior. The Biggby will use an existing 2,000-square-foot structure. Both will have outdoor seating and and a shared parking lot.

Additionally, both buildings will have separate drive-thru for each business.

John Vitale, of Stucky Vitale Architects, stated that the coffee shop hours will likely be 6 a.m. - 11 p.m. and Subway will have similar dining room hours, but will have a 24-hour drive-thru.

The new sub restaurant will replace the existing Subway near Martin, according to owner Nick Moshouris.

He added that the Biggby will open first, likely in fall. The Subway development still has to go before the Zoning Board of Appeals, and close on the property. Once this is completed, the developers can go out to bid for construction.

Both businesses will bring about 20 new jobs to the city.
