Senior Center Mixes Halloween Fun, Breast Cancer Awareness

Members of the St. Clair Shores Senior Activities Center celebrated Halloween Friday by dressing up in a variety of costumes, and received an important message during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The "Boo-B-Q" Halloween luncheon Friday at the St. Clair Shores Senior Activities Center had a mix of seasonal fun, freshly prepared barbecue lunch and important breast health information for women.

Nearly 70 seniors, and supporters of the center, dressed in costumes from Honey Boo-Boo to the Statue of Liberty of the luncheon.

As they dined and celebrated the season, information was available from Henry Ford Health System for attendees to review on how to properly conduct a breast self-exam and take an active role in breast health.

But the overall theme of the afternoon was fun, and a chance for seniors to let their youthful side come out.

"You are never too old to be a kid," said Sue Fickau, senior center coordinator.
