Weekend Construction Road Projects Around Macomb County and the State

If you are heading around town this weekend, or to one of the football games in the state, Patch has a list of roadwork projects planned, and links, to arrive in time for kickoff.

More orange barrels will clutter our major thoroughfares this weekend and into next week.

Here's a look at the sections you may want to avoid. 

Weekend Construction

I-696

Find out what's happening in St. Clair Shoreswith free, real-time updates from Patch.

There will be a right-lane closure on westbound I-696 and a closure of the westbound I-696 exit to Mound Road from 6 a.m. Saturday until 4 p.m. Sunday.
There will also be multiple lane closures with a 15-minute total closure on westbound I-696 from 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Sunday.

I-94

Eastbound and westbound I-94 will have single and double lane closures between Shook Road and M-59 from 9 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday for maintenance work.

Eastbound and westbound I-94 will also have a single lane closed between 23 Mile and County Line roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday for ongoing road work.

Football Traffic

MDOT has created a website with traffic information for fans heading to the Michigan State University and University of Michigan games Saturday, and the Detroit Lions game Sunday.

Beginning Monday, Sept. 10:

I-94

Eastbound and westbound I-94 will have double lane closures nightly between North River Road and 23 Mile Road beginning at 7 p.m. and ending by 5 a.m. the following morning starting Monday night and ending Friday morning for maintenance work.

Eastbound and westbound I-94 will also be reduced to a single lane nightly between 23 Mile and County Line roads beginning at 9 p.m. and ending by 5 a.m. the following morning starting Monday night and ending Friday morning for resurfacing.
