Volunteers to Continue to Ring Bells at Salvation Army Red Kettles

The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign will continue through Saturday, Dec. 29, at local Kroger stores.

Local Kroger stores in St. Clair Shores will host Salvation Army volunteers and red kettles through Saturday, Dec. 29.

The traditional storefront red kettle campaign ended Dec. 24, but was extended at local Kroger stores to help the nonprofit reach the 2012 Red Kettle Campaign goal of $8.5 million

“Year after year, Kroger and Busch’s continue to be generous supporters of The Salvation Army and the Red Kettle Campaign and we are so thankful for everything they do,” said Major Mark Anderson, general secretary and metro Detroit area commander for The Salvation Army Eastern Michigan Division, said in a release. “We are within $3.4 million of reaching our 2012 goal, and with kettles remaining at Kroger and Busch’s storefronts, we’re confident metro Detroiters will pull through to help our neighbors in need.”

Red Kettle Campaign donations are used by the Salvation Army to help provide food, shelter, utility assistance, free legal aid, after school programs, counseling, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, disaster aid and other programs in the community where funds are raised.
