VFW Bruce Post Veterans Sell Poppies

Veterans are selling Buddy Poppies in St. Clair Shores to raise funds for veterans and their dependents.

Members of the VFW Cpl. Walter F. Bruce Post 1146 of Saint Clair Shores will be selling poppies on National Buddy Poppy Days throughout the city Saturday.

The Buddy Poppy was inspired by Canadian Army  Col. John McCrae's poem, "In Flanders Fields," which is recited at funerals where the VFW Ritual Team performs, according to VFW Bruce Post 1146 Commander Tara Perez.

A Buddy Poppy is laid on the veteran's casket and represents the blood shed by American service members, she added.
