St. Clair Shores Youth Council to Host MLK Celebration

The St. Clair Shores Youth Council will host a celebration Monday to honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The St. Clair Shores Youth Council will host a Martin Luther King Jr. Day event with the theme "What's Going On?" to celebrate the life and work of the civil rights leader at 4 p.m. Monday at the Lake Shore High School Auditorium.

The keynote speaker will be Miriam Cuevas Enciso, a SCSYC alumna and civil rights youth activist. City Manager Phillip Ludos, SCSYC Members, along with students and staff representatives from all three St. Clair Shores districts, are expected to participate.

This is the fourth Martin Luther King Day celebration the SCSYC has hosted, and is open to all members of the community. Additionally, there will be an update on the “This Is Our Story” community quilt, performances by the Lake Shore Choir with special guests and other speakers from around the community.
