Video: St. Clair Shores Will Be Hockey Town Saturday for the Red Wings, Huskies Alumni Game

St. Clair Shores at one time was known as Hockey Town, and Saturday will regain that title when the Lakeview Huskies and Red Wings take the ice at Civic Arena. The Stanley Cup and Red Wings announcer Ken Kal will also be present.

Alumni hockey players from Lakeview High School and the Detroit Red Wings will take the ice at Civic Arena Saturday for a charity game for Cops for Kids.

In addition to the game, which will raise funds for the non-profit organization that provides gifts and other items to families in need at Christmas, organizers have planned a number of special events in connected to the game:

  • A Lakeview Hockey Alumni pep rally featuring the Stanley Cup will be held from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Saturday in the Schaublin Auditorium at Lakeview High School.
  • Ken Kal, the Red Wings radio play-by-play announcer and St. Clair Shores resident, will be a guest announcer for the game.
  • In addition to seeing the Red Wings alumni, attendees of the game will also have the opportunity to see the Stanley Cup and have their photo taken with trophy for a $10 donation.

The puck drops for the game at 7 p.m. Saturday at Civic Arena. Tickets are $8 for adults, $4 for kids 12 years old and under.

Tickets for the game are available at the Civic Arena, the police department and the four local Little Caesars restaurants at 22111 Greater Mack Ave., 27317 Harper Ave., 31541 Harper Ave., 16125 East 10 Mile Rd., Eastpointe. Little Caesars will also give away a certificate for a free Hot-n-Ready Pizza with the advance purchase of a family four-pack from these locations.
