St. Clair Shores Senior Center Leading Effort to Help an Iraq War Veteran

The St. Clair Shores-community is coming together this holiday season to assist a 30-year-old U.S. Army veteran from St. Clair Shores who was injured while deployed in Iraq.

The SCOTS Board, Lac Ste. Clair Kiwanis, Roy O'Brien Ford and Habitat for Humanity are working together to help Phillip Martin and his family. Martin, was completing his second tour of duty when he was injured in an IED attack.

Groups throughout the community have joined together to make improvments to his home including a a new furnace and car, and are still working on obtaining new windows, siding and doors for his home.

The groups are seeking 180 people to donate just $25 each toward the Hometown Hero campaign to complete the remaining improvements.

Donations made in any amount will be accepted and is tax exempt.
