Here are a few items to get your Friday started.

1. The National Weather Service is forecasting a 60 percent chance of rain, with a high near 58. There will also be winds from the west-southwest wind between 15 and 18 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 28 mph.

2. The friends of the St. Clair Shores Public Library fall book sale continues today from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. today and Saturday.

3. It's football, and homecoming, night in the Shores. plays Marine City at 7 p.m. tonight., and New Haven visits at the same time.

4. The St. Clair Shores Hockey Association is dropping the puck on a new season Saturday with an opening day celebration at . The festivities start at 10 a.m. in the Garden Rink and continue throughout the day with hockey games activities, food and a bicycle raffle.

5. This week is Fire Prevention Week. Today's fire safety tip from the National Fire Protection Association is install smoke alarms inside each bedroom, outside each sleeping area, and on every level of the home (including the basement).
