Five things to get your day, and weekend, started in St. Clair Shores.

Here are a few items to help you get started today.

1. The early part of your Friday may bring some showers according to the National Weather Service forecasting. There is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2 p.m. before turning partly sunny, with a high near 87. 

2. Boaters may want to wait until later in the day to take their vessels on Lake St. Clair with a 30 percent chance of storms. The National Weather Service is forecasting southwest winds 5 to 10 knots with waves around 1 foot.

3. Residents can meet with members of the St. Clair Shores police and departments today during the and summer blast at . The event runs from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. and includes food, entertainment, give-aways, a splash zone for the kids, and a visit from the K-9 unit is planned.

5. Residents will go polls Tuesday, but before the votes are cast for city council and mayoral candidates, a new city-wide representative will crowned. The Miss St. Clair Shores Scholarship Pageant will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at South Lake High School. A new Miss St. Clair Shores, Miss Teen and Little Miss St. Clair Shores will crowned.
