Residents flock to the waterfront park to find out how to save money, energy and improve the environment.

Dozens of vendors set up shop at Saturday as part of the 2011 Green Fair - the only such event in Macomb County.

Meanwhile, Shores residents and others from all over the area, flocked through the gates to try to get a glimpse at the latest in "green" technology; learn from experts who set up at the event; as well as listen to speakers such as State Representative Anthony Forlini talk about water-quality issues and hear Michigan State University experts address Green Living and Wellness issues.

"I think it's a great thing to have here," Shores resident, Sheldon Kupke, said. "I think we all should go a little bit further in our pursuit of a greener lifestyle, and this is a great place to learn some things."

Kupke added that he has a garden in his backyard where he grows his own vegetables, along with a small composting station.

Fellow Shorian, Dana McCodder, 44, found a greener lifestyle something that was much easier to do than she thought.

"I changed out the lightbulbs in my house to more efficient ones," McCodder said. "I also recycle as much as possible. I think if everyone did this it would make a real difference in the world, and it really wasn't very hard or expensive at all."

Grosse Pointe Farms residents, Doug and Jackie Flugg, found a fun way to go green.

"We bought bikes and we ride as much as possible," Doug said. "Cars have a big carbon footprint and we're trying to cut back on how much we drive."

"We also try and support as many clean-water coallitions and groups as we can," Jackie said.

The Green Fair, presented by St. Clair Shores Parks and Recreation, had something for just about everyone including a hybrid Ford Escape courtesy of .

"I think in the near future all the cars we drive will be hybrids or electrict powered," St. Clair Shores resident Andrew Kolwalski, 55, said. "This event is sort of a glimpse into the future as I see it. Which is very exciting."
