Patch's Picks: Cinco de Mayo

Join in the Cinco de Mayo festivities Thursday with these events in and around St. Clair Shores.

Cinco de Mayo is Thursday and Patch has found some ways for you to celebrate in and around St. Clair Shores.

Several bars and restaurants in the area will be offering specials throughout the day Thursday if you want to keep the celebration local.

will be offering $1 beers until 7 p.m. and will run shot specials throughout the evening. If the weather is nice, the patio will be open. The will be running food specials in addition to specials on Corona beer and tequila.

If you haven't tried Mexican Bistro, this might be the best day to stop in. Open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., they will have entertainment provided by a mariachi band all day long. The recently renovated restaurant will be running drink and food specials as well.

Rojo offers an extensive food menu featuring Mexican classics and a large drink menu featuring 12 different margaritas in addition to Sangria and other signature cocktails.

If you to try something different, Yacht Charters will be kicking off their summer series of boat tours with a Cinco de Mayo tour.

Tickets are $96 and include a premium open bar that will be serving margaritas and sangria. The extensive food menu will offer four different courses, starting with a cheese, fruit and crudites platter that will feature imported and domestic cheeses.

Also try either the tomatillo or mango pineapple salsa, or chorizo and poblano chile queso, which will be served with blue, white and red corn tortillas.

For the main course, cruisers can choose from beef cornitas, chicken or queso fresco tostadas, to name a few of the menu items. For dessert, try the Tres Leches cake with caramel creme anglaise. Entertainment will be provided by a live mariachi band.

Boarding starts at 6:30 pm. at the GM  Winter Garden Dock downtown at the Renaissance Center. The cruise runs from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  with the afterglow ending at 10 p.m.
