Canton Woman Swindled Out of Nearly $10,000 by Internet Date: A 41-year-old Canton woman reported an unauthorized transaction on her bank account after she gave her account information to a man she was dating online, according to a police report. 

Man in Custody after Police Standoff in Farmington: "There was assaultive behavior," Farmington Public Safety Director Bob Schulz said. "We believed there were weapons used and in the home, and we believed the suspect was using drugs and alcohol." 

Trees Down, Schools Closed in Northville After Wednesday Storms: Northville sustained heavy damage after storms blew through on Wednesday night, leaving trees overturned and more than 5,000 households and businesses without power, including the entire downtown area.

Trenton Assistant Principal Pleads No Contest in Embezzlement Case: Bret Woodley, 40, of Taylor, was charged on Aug. 15 with felony embezzlement after authorities accused him of taking about $1,500 from the City of Trenton, while working as a part-time employee at the Trenton Aquatic Center.
