Memorial Day Parade Organizers Plan Battle of Bands, Logo Contest
The parade doesn't step off for nearly six months, but organizers are planning a Battle of the Bands fundraiser tonight and a logo contest for local high school students.
The 2013 St. Clair Shores Memorial Day Parade Committee will host a Battle of the Bands fundraiser at 7 p.m. tonight at the VFW Bruce Post #1146.
There is no entry fee for bands, and admission is $10 with proceeds benefiting the Parade Committee.
Members of the Parade Committee have also contacted Lakeview, Lake Shore and South Lake high schools seeking entries for the annual parade logo contest.

Students can participate by submitting their designs with the theme "A Time to Honor" by Nov. 30. A panel of veterans will select the winning design, which will be announced Dec. 20 and honored during the 2013 parade.
