Memorial Day Parade Committee Names Grand Marshal

VFW Bruce Post #1146 Commander Timothy Litz has been named grand marshal of the 2014 parade.

The St. Clair Shores Memorial Day Parade Committee announced Sunday that VFW Bruce Post #1146 Commander Timothy Litz has been selected as the Grand Marshal for the 2014 Memorial Day Parade.

Litz, who served in the United States Marine Corps from 1962 -1966 and was stationed in the Da Nang area of Vietnam with the 3rd Battalion 3rd Marine Regiment, joined the VFW in 1966 and became a member of the Bruce Post in 1981.

Among the positions and roles Litz holds with the VFW, he is firing Sergeant of the Ritual Team, organizes fund raisers to the benefit of the post and community organizations, assists with membership and serves as the Post Service Officer assisting veterans in need.

In 2012, Litz was selected as Macomb County Volunteer of the Year.

Additionally, Litz was appointed National Aide-De-Camp for 2013-2014 by the National Commander of the VFW. He also holds trustee and surgeon positions for Macomb County Council and 5th District.
