Happening This Weekend: Fine Arts Show, Live Concerts, Bowling Fundraisers and More

Plenty to do this weekend from the arts to the eats along with a little bit of fun.


Where/When: , 24504 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores; 6-9 p.m. Aug. 11.
Why Go: For art's sake, for one thing. The Cultural Committee of St. Clair Shores holds its sixth Fine Arts show this evening. See and shop for art, sculpture, photography, and more, plus enjoy music and poetry.
Pricing: Free.


Where/When: Eight eateries along the Nautical Mile; Aug. 12-21.
Why Go: Celebrate our popular strip along Jefferson with the first-ever Restaurant Week. Eight eateries will be offering fixed-price menus where you can enjoy three courses for $20. It's eight restaurants to be savored in nine days, so take advantage of Caribbean, Middle Eastern, Greek, Mexican and other fare at affordable prices.


Where/When: , 9:30 p.m. Aug. 12 and 13.
Why Go: Catch Rod Stewart tribute band Danny D & The Vagabonds at the Blue Goose Inn this weekend.
Pricing: $3 cover.

Where/When: , 6-11 p.m. Aug. 13.
Why Go: Put on your Hawaiian finery and enjoy a pig roast and luau at Jefferson Yacht Club. A buffet-style pig roast will be served at 7 p.m. with all the sides plus a drink is included in the price. Also, Steve Flagg-Singleshot will perform music.
Pricing: $17 in advance; $20 at the door.


Where/When: , 6:30 p.m. Aug. 13.
Why Go: Support the St. Clair Shores Green Hornets, Black Knights youth football and cheer team, who hold their annual bowling fundraiser at Shore Lanes.
Pricing: $20, includes pizza, pop and shoe rental. There will be rafles and a 50/50 drawing.

Why Go: The Beach Grill turns 14, and is celebrating with Bikini Fest, which include a bikini contest, deejays spinning tunes, with drink specials and more.

Where/When: Wahby Park, 7-8 p.m. Aug. 15.
Why Go: Enjoy a free concert at the park. Tonight's act is Gene Keven & Friends, who'll play soft jazz.
