Happening This Weekend: Ballet, Garden Tours and Hotties

Something for everyone this week, from artsy to outdoorsy.

Where/When:; noon-6 p.m. June 24 and 25.
Why Go: Does a patch of naked sidewalk give you the urge to gussy it up with your own masterpiece? Look no further and get thee to the Grosse Pointe Art Center this weekend to create some sidewalk art. All ages are welcome.
Pricing: Free.


Where/When: Around the Grosse Pointes, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. June 25 and 26.
Why Go: See how these gardens grow. LocalMotionGreen and Grosse Pointe Garden Center are holding a garden tour, where you'll visit eight private gardens. You'll see all kinds of gardens on your green adventure, including pesticide-free, dog-friendly, railorad, water, rose, outdoor kitchen/dining room, native plants, herbs, woodland and wildlife. Plus information will be available for inquiring minds, and artists will be sketching in the gardens. Event benefits the work of LocalMotionGreen and Grosse Pointe Garden Center.

Where/When:; June 24, 9:30 p.m.
Why Go: Tonight's the night for the 2011 St. Clair Shores-First State Bank Fireworks Extravaganza. The fireworks begin at dusk, but everyone's encouraged to arrive early for a picnic and music by Elite Entertainment and linger at the awe of the fireworks.
Pricing: Admission to the park is $2 per person (for residents and non-residents). Parking will be available in the city-owned lot across from the park, for $5 per vehicle. Proceeds go toward expenses for the fireworks display.

Why Go: Enjoy live music close to home; stop at the Blue Goose to hear Big Will & the 360 Degrees Band rock the house.
Pricing: $3 cover.

Where/When: ; June 25.
Why Go: Mark your calendars and head to the Beach Grill for Hottiefest. More than 1,000 people are expected to show for this summertime bash. The outdoor patio, boat wells, Aqua Bar Room VIP Lounge and the main bar will be open, with drinks, hotties and summer fun, and a soundtrack provided by DJ Mike Anthony and DJ Godfather.
