Decorated Lighthouses To Be Auctioned

Some of the decorated lighthouses placed throughout the city by the St. Clair Shores will be auctioned in November.

The St. Clair Shores Cool City Committee will auction the decorated lighthouses which have been placed throughout the community.

The event will be held at noon Nov. 9 at the St. Clair Shores Golf and Country Club, with lunch will be provided to the first fifty people.

Lighthouses were made available to the city's three school districts, one placed in front of City Hall, and sixteen sponsored works by local businesses and civic organizations.

The City Hall lighthouse and the school lighthouses will be available to bid, according to a release. Some sponsored lighthouses may be donated to the charity auction.

Bidders will be able to bid on the lighthouse of their choice, with proceeds of the auction going to the charity.

“This has been a project that has been in the planning for several years," said Bob Fetter, a volunteer member of the committee who is heading up the Community Art Project, in a release. "We were able to put it together with the assistance of lots of people, including the St. Clair Shores Cultural Committee, Lac Ste. Claire Fine Art Fair, the local artist community, and the Cement Masons Local 514, who has agreed to reproduce the Lighthouses for only the cost of supplies.”
