Businesses to "Light the Shores" for the Holidays

Patch has joined with local businesses association to promote the "Light the Shores" holiday lighting campaign. Readers can also vote for their favorite displays and win prizes.

Businesses throughout St. Clair Shores will be getting in the holiday spirit in the coming weeks with impressive light and window displays, and your St. Clair Shores Patch is joining in the fun and competition.

For the past two years, the Harper Avenue Corridor Improvement Authority has held the "Light the Avenue" campaign.

This year it is being expanded to include businesses throughout city for the "Light the Shores" campaign.

These festive decorations will likely range from the subtle to the audacious as businesses show off their civic pride while competing to win one of four categories:

  • Best Exterior Holiday Decoration
  • Best Holiday Window Display
  • Most Extreme Holiday Decoration – “The Griswold Christmas Vacation” Award
  • Favorite Holiday Shopping Tradition in St. Clair Shores

The best part of the campaign is residents, customers and visitors to St. Clair Shores will select the winners in each category.

Patch is excited to host the voting for the "Light the Shores" campaign from Nov. 21 - Dec. 16.

On Nov. 21, a "Light the Shores" story will be posted on www.stclairshores.patch.com and readers will be able to vote for top displays by listing a business namein the comments section below the story. 

Voters will need to register to be a Patch user by filling out a few items at http://stclairshores.patch.com/login. Don't worry, you won't receive spam by registering on Patch. In fact, Patch will be randomly selecting votes each week to receive prizes provided by St. Clair Shores businesses. This way we will be to contact you for your prize!

At the conclusion of the campaign, a grand prize winner will be selected from all the votes cast.

In the days leading up to the start of voting, businesses owners should check to make sure they are included in Patch's business listings at http://stclairshores.patch.com/places. This way we can help locate the businesses on an interactive map on the story. 

Also, businesses are asked to submit photos of their displays to Patch editor Edward Cardenas at edward.cardenas@patch.com.

The winners, and one runner-up in each category will receive plaques that will be presented at the St. Clair Shores City Council meeting on Dec. 19.

Patch is excited about partnering with local businesses for this event, and their is a buzz among businesses including the , Rebecca Brown Farmers Insurance agency and , all of who started and planning and decorating for campaign.
