Business and Community Organizations Meet, Share Calendars

Representatives of the city's business and philanthropic groups met Thursday morning to share upcoming events and create a synergy in the community.

Leaders from across the city gathered Thursday morning to communicate and coordinate their calendars for events planned in the coming months.

The gathering followed a similar meeting in March, which brought together , Harper Avenue Business Association, 9 Mack Merchants Association along with the city's Kiwanis and Optimists clubs.

This meeting was the first since the Metro East Chamber of Commerce was dissolved this past spring.

Chris Fitzsimmons, president of the Metro East Chamber of Commerce, stated that the decision was made for what is best for St. Clair Shores. Businesses in the community are not without representation, as the chamber decided to partner with the Macomb County Chamber.

Additionally, the Macomb Chamber is honoring Metro East Chamber memberships and will allow those businesses to renew for one additional year at their current rates.

"This is a win-win for everybody," said Fitzsimmons.
