Bree'z Through the Shores to Hit the Streets Saturday

The first Bree'z Through the Shores run will be held Saturday in the subdivision behind the Lakeshore Family YMCA to honor Breeana Dixit, who died January in an accident in Kalamazoo.

Organizers of the Lakeshore Family YMCA Healthy Kids Day are dedicating a fun run Saturday to Breeana Kay Dixit, a St. Clair Shores native who died early this year in an accident in Kalamazoo.

Dixit, 22, was Western Michigan University graduate, who worked with children at the Lakeshore Family YMCA in St. Clair Shores and Appletree Christian Learning Center in Kalamazoo before she lost her life.

To honor her, the first Bree'z Through the Shores 5K Fun Run has been organized Saturday for the  subdivision behind the YMCA.

"This day is about remembering Bree and all the wonderful things she did while she was with us. We want to keep her spirit alive by giving back to the wonderful organizations she loved to work with," organizers wrote on the event website.
