Grosse Pointe Theatre presents Disney’s Newsies the Musical, May 3-12, at Parcells School Auditorium, in Grosse Pointe Woods. Inspired by the Newspaper Strike of 1899 in New York City, Newsies, packed with wonderful songs and electrifying dances, is the tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy who led a group of young newsies to take on powerful publishing giants to fight for fair conditions. Newsies

Join Grosse Pointe Theatre and the talented 37-member cast of Newsies as they share this family-friendly story of hope and humanity and help carry that sentiment forward by participating in a collection of items to support kids through Detroit Goodfellows. Collection bins will be in the lobby at each performance to accept the NEW toys and other items for kids that will be part of the gifts distributed by Detroit Goodfellows during the 2024 Christmas season.

Help “Seize the Day” for kids served by Detroit Goodfellows by bringing NEW children’s winter hats, gloves, mittens, socks, crayons, coloring books, color pencils, washable markers, small stuffed animals, and lip balm to help brighten the 2024 holiday season. Collection bins will be in the lobby at Newsies performances.

Follow that rabbit to a delightful, entertaining world of childhood fantasies. Alice journeys into a world of talking animals, comic royalty and races where the contestants run in circles! There are also the Mad Hatter’s frantic tea party, the watch-carrying White Rabbit, and talking flowers. Along the way Alice must deal with a sneezing duchess and a baby that turns into a pig! The finale has Alice watching a trial, but she suddenly finds herself the accused!
