The Warriors of St. Clair Shores Alumni and Friends will be holding a fundraiser, and world record attempt, Thursday at Civic Arena.

This year, the alumni group is raising funds for the David Smith Foundation.

Michele McLemore, one of the organizers of the event, said they hope to have upwards of 90 players playing in three games to reach the record, and raise funds for the foundation.

The foundation, named for a Ferndale student who was killed by a train in July 2006, sends kids to camp and offers scholarships to Ferndale High School graduates. He also was a long-time St. Clair Shores hockey player.

There is a $20 donation to skate, and all players need to have their own equipment but will receive a jersey. There is a $5 admission fee for spectators.

A 50-50 raffle will be held, and a DJ will be playing throughout the night.

Three games will be played at 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., with local referees donating their time.
